Make the laundry - don't DO it!

Welcome back to the Make laundry don;t do laundry tour PRE tour tour!

What is your LEAST favourite part of laundry??
for me it is forsure the putting away of it. yuck! So let's sew instead!

Today I want to highlight one of our giveaway sponsors - Brownie Goose!

These shorts are surprisingly quick. Like seriously. I know you are looking at that bias tape thinking oh my gosh I can wash a load faster than sew those! But - it goes together much faster than the washing machine. and it is more fun!

The pockets are of course faux, so that is also fast. and I mean really - my 3yr old can barely coordinate herself to get somethign in the front pocket without 2 hands and me telling her how to open them, so faux is PERFECT for the back!

and well bribed with a bag of candy from the store Cheeks stood still enough for pictures! wahoo!

Now go check out Karly's post on Paisley Roots, and Cassandra's on PearBerry Lane!
(after leaving me a comment???)

Happy sewing!

Make laundry - do NOT do the laundry! Pre Tour of the tour...

Cassy from Pear Berry Lane concocted this whole idea and I joined in with Karly from Paisley Roots. The point - doing laundry SUCKS! and making laundry is MUCH more fun! So this is a pre blog post series to the actual series - (and if you follow along you will get sneaks at designers who are contributing to a HUGE giveaway during the actual series nect week - so follow along everyday this week!

In other words - if you dislike laundry - this tour is for you!
All our patterns featured take abotu the time of a load of laundry - or less. Thankg goodness this doesnt include the putting away or this tour would be featuring things that take MONTHS to make .... at least on my part.... lol. Please say I'm not the only one who divides things into piles and then there is your pile - good luck!

My first post on the pre tour tour - Muse of the Morning's FREE hat pattern!

This certainly was a quick sew - cut and done in an hour about. I had intended it for dolly to wear. My oldest is always wanting new clothes and such for her dolly.

BUT, then she wanted to try it on Jewel - her toy pup.

and then decided the hat would indeed be used as Jewel's new bed. I suppose it is a worthy use lol. Jewel is quite pleased I'm told.

The tour kicks off on June 6th and  has some AMAZING prizes and giveaways !!!
As a way to thank our amazing sponsors, we thought we could highlight their patterns along with giving some awesome inspiration on fast and easy sews!

NEW from Sis Boom - Kelsey Pattern!

NEW from Sis Boom - the Kelsey dress and top pattern

This pattern has many options in it: Top, tea dress, and maxi length. Ruffles or not. This dress is a pretty quick sew, especially if you go for a straight hem and skip the ruffles!

The fabric requirements are fab too aren;t they ??!!! Especially since the bodice uses so little it is perfect for showcasing some of your favourites you only have a little left of!

Now, on to the tester pictures! as we all know that is what you really want to see!

This is the lovely Kelsey this pattern was named after:

Faboulous for layering to meet dress codes or as the weather cools!

The criss cross back falls perfectly between shoulder blades, making this a comfortable wear that you don't need to worry about slipping off the shoulders!

Happy Summer Sewing!

It's a JUNGLE out there! Break out the lace!

Today I'm showing off the Marty Hoody I made from Issue 11 of One Thimble Magazine  (affiliate link)

This Pattern is one of TWELVE in the magazine ! The lovely AinsleeFox made the Marty hoodie pattern and it is loaded with options and completly gender neutral!

I chose the kanga pocket front option with tunic length cut line for the perfect spring-fall hoody. Bonus - I got this cut and sewed in an afternoon! and I LOOOVE the way the neckline is done with that binding there - I just adore the finish and how it sits when left up.

Cheeks does the most amazing Batman voice - seriously. So of course I HAD to use my masks fabric for her, but she is also quite girly, so I chose a lace pocket and lining for the hood (can you see it?)

This Magazine really does have an awesome collection of patterns grouped to it's urban jungle theme, but don't take my word alone - have a look below! (oh and the free motion hood creatures  you see in the bottom row - they are sewn onto the Marty hoody!!!)

  •               1 interview
  •               5 articles for those with handmade businesses
  •               8 general interest articles
  •               6 "how to tutes"
  •               6 techniques articles

Thanks for reading! Please leave a comment! Love the hoody? Liking the lace and mask combo? Cheeks just the cutest in her new glasses??? Let me know!
